Interviewing

Our interviewing process varies among offices, and often from position to position. We will contact you to schedule an interview and guide you through the process. We may schedule a follow-up interview with additional team members as needed. Interviews may be: 

  • By telephone, Skype or FaceTime
  • In a group setting
  • One-on-one with the recruiter or hiring manager

PROJECT ENGINEER - COMMISSIONING (OAKLAND)

We’re looking for these qualities in this position:

• Technical skills –solid understanding of engineering concepts and advanced problem-solving skills expected of a bachelor level engineering degree or above.
• Ideally 2-4 years’ experience in design, construction, and/or commissioning.
•  Applicable certifications a plus – CCP, PE, LEED AP, and/or CLCATT.
•  Familiarity with use of portable monitoring/metering equipment.
• Understanding of major building HVAC equipment/lighting/controls technologies with a specialty in at least one area.
• Collaborative and client-focused – A clear communicator who can interact professionally with clients and on-site staff and enhance our reputation as an industry leader.
• Detail oriented and organized – Able to follow the commissioning process and improve the quality of the project.
• Self-Direction – someone who can manage his/her own time and aid others to ensure timeliness and time allocation budgets are met.

What you’ll do:

• Save energy and operating costs at client facilities by applying your technical skills in commercial and industrial buildings.
• Provide commissioning services for projects requiring LEED fundamental and enhanced certification.
• Provide acceptance testing for Title 24 projects.
• Provide technical assistance to utilities and their customers to ensure that energy saving impacts are real, and that the savings are on solid technical grounds.
• Work at our customer sites conducting energy assessments, inspections, measurement and verification of energy and demand savings.
• Learn from our experienced team of over 40 engineers specializing in commercial and industrial energy efficiency.

INTERN (OAKLAND)

We’re looking for these qualities in this position:

What you’ll do:

We are looking for a Summer Intern to join our office in downtown Oakland who can assist with projects supporting our clients, primarily utility-sponsored market studies and customer initiatives. The position requires a willingness to travel to project sites throughout California and the Pacific Northwest. kW Engineering will train interns on use of portable monitoring/metering equipment, electrical safety, and process/protocols required for the work performed. It is anticipated that this position will require up to 30 hours a week.

SENIOR ENGINEER (LONG BEACH)

We’re looking for these qualities in this position:

• A Technical leader – someone who can set the tone for our high standards of deliverables, who has a background in building systems, and cutting-edge analytical approaches including hourly simulation tools, bin simulations, data visualization, monitoring equipment and methods.

• Customer service – someone who customers will want back for more; additional work

• Sales support – someone who can provide the technical backup to our sales team. You won’t be responsible for marketing, but will be asked to back up our team with your in-depth knowledge and experience
